Your child’s school is very committed to providing a safe environment for all students. Accidental injuries are generally NOT the fault of the school, nor are such accidents the responsibility of the school or district to pay for the cost of medical bills for your students. However, as a public service your school has purchased a supplemental KidGuard student accident insurance policy to provide basic accident coverage for students while attending school.

Short-Term Emergency Sickness Benefit Plan: Covers Expenses incurred for treatment of an Emergency Sickness that occurs during a Covered Activity. Requires care and treatment rendered in a hospital, urgent care or other appropriately licensed medical facility as certified by the local authorities where the Emergency Sickness first manifested itself during the period of coverage or by a Physician. For late enrollments there are no pro-rated discounts. Provides up to $5,000 of coverage. Cost is only $40.00 to add this coverage.

COVERAGE EFFECTIVE AND TERMINATION DATES

Coverage under the school time plan becomes effective on the first day of classes for the regular school term as designated by the Lee County School Board. Coverage under the school time accident insurance policy purchased by the Lee County School Board terminates on the last day of school in May 2027.

FHSAA (Florida High School Athletic Association) Sports coverage is provided as sanctioned by the FHSAA and scheduled by the FHSAA, including off-season “conditioning” as defined by the FHSAA during the summer months. Summer camps, club sports or outside leagues are not covered. When a teams season is officially over, the coverage terminates for that team. Offseason weights and cardio may continue during the regular school term. If a student is participating in voluntary open gyms they should purchase the voluntary extended $65 plan in order to be covered for open gym activities.

If the 24 Hour Extended Coverage Option is purchased, 24 Hour protection becomes effective at 11:59 P.M. EST on the date the enrollment application and payment is received in KidGuard Insurance’s office. The 24 Hour Extended Coverage terminates on the last day of summer in August, 2027.

Your school safety is a top priority. Sometimes accidents happen. As a public service for your community, your school has negotiated a low cost student accident insurance plan for your consideration. Public schools are not responsible for accidents on public school grounds and not responsible for insurance for students. This premium is a one time per school year.

Coverage provides protection only during school sponsored, school supervised, school scheduled classes and activities.
COVERAGE EFFECTIVE AND TERMINATION DATES:
1) At 12:01 A.M. (EST.) on the first day of scheduled school classes for the regular school term. Or, 2) at 11:59 P.M. (EST.) on the date the premium is paid or received by Kidguard Insurance agency office. If you are an Adult Student (Vo-Tech) and purchase the School Time Plan, your coverage will expire when your semester is over or on the last day of summer, August 11, 2027.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This student accident policy is NOT ‘Primary Insurance’ and is not intended to replace family health insurance. The policy has limitations and exclusions and is designed to provide secondary or excess coverage. This policy will NOT pay any expenses that could be covered by other family insurance or an HMO or PPO. The accident insurance policy does not guarantee 100% reimbursement for all medical expenses incurred. The Lee County School Board does not assume responsibility for payment of medical expenses that are not covered by the student accident policy or for benefits that could be received from other sources of coverage or insurance. You must file with any other insurance first, before filing for benefits under the school policy.
